Longterm client Farro finalist in NZ Property Council Awards

Globally recognised retailer Farro Fresh is a finalist in the Retail catagory of the 2014 Property Council Awards

Finalists of the 2014 Property Council Awards were recently announced, revealing New Zealand’s top properties. The awards are highly regarded for their focus on outstanding use of capital as well as project innovation, design and construction.

Amongst the finalists is the Farro Fresh Retail Development in Grey Lynn, an attractive and commercially sucessful centre.

Previously a printing warehouse, the industrial site has been transformed by RCG's designers into a modern retail development that engages and enhances the local community. The development is up for the Retail Property Award against 2 other properties.

Strategically designed to achieve a holding income and premium long term tenants, the repurposed 3115m2 Farro Fresh Retail Development in Grey Lynn, offers an attractive and commercially successful retail mix. It’s modern design and quality tenants have transformed the 7914m2 site and activated the local community.

The original portal frame structure of the warehouse structure has been kept intact, the original concrete floor slab ground and polished, and the ceiling and services left exposed. These tactics kept base-build and fitout costs to a minimum whilst also being true to the design needs of Farro Fresh.

The development extends the physical and social hub of the Grey Lynn community. Farro, Bread and Butter, and Citta have activated the urban site which was previously for private commercial use. The local community is engaged through public access, market days, added landscaping, shopfront façade improvements, making a positive addition to the surrounding environment.

The owner now has a premium asset with an attractive retail mix and generous income, and their anchor tenant, Farro Fresh, is trading above expectation.

The Property Council Awards winners will be announced 6 June 2014. RCG sponsor the Retail Property Award category of the Property Council of New Zealand Rider Levett Bucknell Property Industry Award.
