Major retailers closing their doors

About two years ago, consumers were receiving signals from Dick Smith Electronics that the company was not trading well. Whilst the rumours continued through to Christmas 2015, customers continued to make purchases from the group stores throughout New Zealand. However by January 2016, it was apparent that Dick Smith would close and with that went the certainty of the retention and value of the Gift Vouchers that had been purchased during the previous Christmas buying spree.

What happens if society becomes reliant on one source provider?

The advent of the Electric car which seems just around the corner as a real vehicle and affordable option, has raised questions as to the ultimate impact of petrol consumption and the benefits of "electric" over the current petrol or diesel options. It also must impact on the potential consumption of electricity and refill stations etc as an acceptable form of filling vehicles.

I have often wondered at the power of a brand and its influence on whatever market it may serve. Brands that come quickly to mind typically are McDonalds, and KFC. However, lesser brands also serve their own sector of the community very well and in turn are supported.

New Zealand building safety under scrutiny

As expected, the recent Grenfell Tower fire, drew attention to buildings in New Zealand and questions have been asked of Building Owners, Property Developers and Architects, as to the reliability of buildings in the event of fire or any other natural disasters that tend to strike when least expected.
