The scale of the impact of Amazon arriving in Australia and its psychological impact on major retailers both in New Zealand and Australia is like nothing I have ever seen before. Australian retailers are literally knocking at the knees in grim preparation for the Amazon arrival.

Property Heavyweights continue to expand Portfolios

The need to secure and increase Property portfolios was never more apparent than in the past week when Augusta Capital and Kiwi Property Group went head to head in an all-out attempt to secure ownership of the relatively small NPT property company. I remember the days not so long ago that one could buy shares in NPT for just a few cents. This latest tussle for ownership saw the share price reach 62 cents this past week.

Operators targeting the ageing population?

I went into Auckland's Viaduct on Easter Sunday to meet some friends and have lunch. There were very few people about and the restaurant we went to didn't charge a "surcharge" for eating out on Easter Sunday. Maybe people are happy staying home at Easter with their families?

While chatting over lunch, one major issue that we stumbled upon was the major occupations that have contributed most to wealth over the past couple of years over all others.

The inevitable and the unexpected this Easter

As we enter the long Easter weekend, many of us will not only participate in an Easter egg hunt, but will buy our friends or family a Lotto ticket as an easy Easter gift in lieu of an egg. Many children will of course receive (and eat) many chocolate eggs! This much is expected.
