Victoria University Hub

Victoria University of Wellington’s Campus Hub project is a major
new facility developed to keep pace with emerging student life and
learning styles.

RCG provided the University with advice, and developed a retail strategy that identified essential and sustainable retail opportunities within the hub.

Working with multiple stakeholders, we used our research and
retail planning skills to develop key performance indicators to evaluate
any outcomes.

Various layout and mix options were developed and evaluated with the stakeholder, ultimately achieving ownership of the final strategy.

RCG estimated the likely spend in order to specify the mix of retailers, and their size, that would be both sustainable and have a critical mass to ensure a vibrant retail precinct.

We used our database of retailer turnover and performance figures to set benchmarks for various feasibility and planning options.

The outcome was a retail mix and layout that integrated with the overall Campus Hub.

We then assisted Victoria to source the targeted tenants and negotiate leases for the first stage; establishing a significantly improved retail presentation and performance, which supports and enriches
campus life.
